Best Places To Visit In Munnar

Let the experts guide you to the best of this mesmerizing destination

Mist-covered mountains, lush forests, tea plantations, waterfalls and charming valleys are what come to mind when one thinks of Munnar. Along with a favorable climate and natural beauty, there are plenty of places to visit in Munnar on a holiday here.

Stretched along the Western Ghats, this hill town is filled with scenic tea plantations where you can stroll around in with ease. The Kolukkumalai Tea Estate infact is one of the major tourist attractions in Munnar. These tea plantations are located about 7900 ft above sea level and you can visit the factory here. Watch the traditional methods of tea processing and sip on a cup of freshly brewed tea.

You can also visit the Tata Tea or KDHP Museum where you can learn the age-old secrets of how tea is processed. There are also plenty of antiquities to view here, like the burial urn that was excavated from Periakanal Estate and dates back to the 2nd century AD. You can also savor some of the delicious cardamom tea made here.

Apart from tea, Munnar is also known for its rich bounty of flora and fauna. This can be seen at the Hydel / Blossom Park that is located near the Pallivasal hydroelectric project. Blossom Park is one of the best places to visit in Munnar as you can enjoy cycling, roller skating, boating, resting on hammocks as well as spending time at the meditation caves. Families can also enjoy picnics here at this park while viewing the beauty of nature all around.

Munnar is also famous for its glistening waterfalls like the Attukal Waterfalls, the Cheeyappara Waterfalls, the Thommankuthu Falls, the Lakkam Waterfalls and the Nyayamkadu Waterfalls. Enjoy a fun romantic escapade amidst the green jungles and rolling meadows of the Attukal Waterfalls. There is also a tea shop at the end of these waterfalls where you can enjoy a cup of delicious cardamom tea.

You can also enjoy the beauty of nature at the elevated stations: Top Station and Echo Point. These two stations are Munnar tourist spots as they are situated at an elevated region from where you can get panoramic views of the city. Echo point is also a beauty to behold as it is located at the confluence of three streams: Nallathanni, Kundala, and Mudrapuzha. From this point, you can scream out your own name and hear the echo resonate all over the region.

On the way to Echo Point, you can take a shikara boat ride to Kundala Lake. This is perfect for couples as they can enjoy the fresh mountain air and the misty surroundings while nestling against one another on this boat ride. If you are lucky, you may also be able to spot the Neelakurunji flowers which bloom once in twelve years.

Tea gardens in Munnar are one of the best attractions in this scenic hill station. The Anamudi Peak, the tallest mountain in South India, is among famous trekking places in Munnar. Sumit's 4 days trip to Munnar

Our journey was very nice. Everything was very well executed except for the last day of the trip there was a miscommunication from your side regarding which place to visit that led us to be detained for some time and as a result in the last moment our houseboat was changed.Everything should be crystal clear from beforehand so that the people don't get unnecessary Harrassment for the inconvenience caused. Please work upon that Munnar sight seeing was very great.
