Visit Tea Plantations in Mauritius

A day tour amidst the tea plantations in Mauritius can be a unique experience to have on a vacation. Every row of tiny plantlets seems like an array of letters that define the significance of tea production in the secluded island. Several museums have also been established to enlighten the visitors with the age-old traditions attached to the essence of cultivation.

Domaine des Aubineaux

In the year 1872, Domaine des Aubineaux was initially established as a colonial house, which has recently been converted into a museum. Every corner of the house-turned-museum explains how beautifully the tea industry has contributed in modernizing the island of Mauritius and how proficiently it has benefited in establishing economical connections overseas.

The garden is a storehouse of some endemic tea species from where the production is supplied worldwide garnering major appreciation and increased demand for more supply. One must surely visit the tea plantations and get awestruck by the breathtaking beauty of the exotic forest and stretches of tea estates lingering all around.

Bois Chéri

Known as the largest tea producing estate of the Mauritian Island, Bois Chéri has been the pioneer producer since 1892. Retaining the ancient tradition, Bois Chéri had been famous for producing a specific variety of tea that carries the essence of ancient Mauritius along. However, in the recent years, Bois Chéri is also being praised for its new varieties of green tea, herbal tea, and the most popular flavored tea. People willing to visit tea plantations are also treated with few cups, only to savor the rich aroma of the raw flavor.

Saint Aubin House

Established in the year 1819, Saint Aubin House has been a home to the eminent developers of ancient sugar estates in Mauritius. However, in the recent 90s, the house has been thoroughly renovated in order to match the competing chunks of modernization. Saint Aubin House is still known as one of the most popular tourist attractions since the guests willing to visit the tea plantations are often treated with the panoramic view of the unlevelled estates of greenery intermingling with the fading beauty of fog and mist.

Mankar's 6 days trip to Mauritius

Giving 4 star only because of the travel agent ayush from pocket friendly vacations. He helped us plan the trip and provided quick response whenever required. Our trip was to Mauritius for 7 days. Their local team sucks. Not helpful and no response on time. They gave no proper updates and i had to followup with them all the time. Cab drivers on the other hand were very nice and friendly and assisted us everytime.

Veneetsi's 5 days trip to Mauritius

Regular Follow Up from the Agent even after the payment would be helpful. Would be good to include Currency Information as part of the proposal. Agent was polite and helpful (before and during the trip as well) Guides should allow to spend more time on better spots rather than rushing through. The DC representative did not provide information on available low cost travel options, and quoted significant taxi amounts even for a small journey. We managed to travel in 95% less amount than what was quoted to us by the DC with our own research. None of the activities are included as part of the package, and constitute significant additional cost in addition to the package cost. It would be helpful, if at least something is included, or an indication is provided on the estimated costs. Overall, we enjoyed the trip, with minor issues here and there.
