Siliguri is located at the bottom of the Himalaya mountains which are in the plains of Darjeeling District by the side of River Mahananda. Siliguri is the second-largest city in West Bengal. History of Siliguri

Hundreds of years ago by the British administration, Siliguri was declared a subdivision district. Siliguri has done great growth in the past few years. The Saktigarh Colony which is in South today, Siliguri once was located there. Hari Sundar Majumdar is known to be the first notable residents of Siliguri. He came to reside in Siliguri. The district library was named Terai Harsundar Library at the first place. Earlier Siliguri used to be a place where only agriculture was away or earning and very few people used to stay here, and now this is among the fastest-growing cities of India.
