By Air

 

For those traveling by flight from Kolkata to Sikkim, the nearest airport to Gangtok is the Bagdogra airport in West Bengal. This airport is around 124 kilometres away from the capital city and you can easily get shared taxis or private vehicles from the airport till the city. This drive from Bagdogra to Gangtok is a scenic delight with stunning views of the mountains and River Teesta. You can also travel by the TSA helicopter from Bagdogra to Gangtok in about 20 minutes.

 

By Rail

 

For those planning to travel to Sikkim from Kolkata by train, the nearest railway station is the New Jalpaiguri station in Siliguri. The station is about about 148 kilometres away from the capital city Gangtok and you can easily get a cab or taxi from New Jalpaiguri to Gangtok.

 

By Road

 

If you are traveling from Kolkata to Sikkim by bus, there are regular buses to Gangtok from Siliguri and this will take about 4 hours. You can also hire taxis or cabs from different towns to reach Sikkim.

Nikhil helped organize a 7 N / 8 D trip to Darjeeling and Sikkim.. Was really well planned. The hotels were comfortable and food arrangements extremely good.
