Essential information of Andaman

Andaman is a tropical paradise rising out of the Bay of Bengal. The archipelago is a magnet for honeymooners and families on vacation looking for an exile from the monotony of mainland. Travellers should get the basic idea about weather and food of Andaman, which is not usually available on a typical tourist map of Andaman and Nicobar islands. Here is some key information on Andaman and Nicobar Islands which will come handy during your holiday in Andaman.

Food of Andaman and Nicobar Islands:

Like most coastal territories in India, Andaman and Nicobar Islands are famous for seafood-based cuisine. Whether it is a lavish seafood platter at upscale restaurants or a quick bite in the street, seafood in Andaman is ubiquitous. Coconut prawn curry, an excellent dish cooked with local spices, grilled lobsters, freshly-caught sardines, and some of the must-try food in Andaman Islands. Locals and indigenous tribes follow a simpler rule: they cook whatever they caught. Most local restaurants serve dishes made from crabs, prawns, and cuttlefish. Vegetarians need not worry as there are plenty of joints that offer North Indian and South Indian cuisine in Port Blair. The capital city has plenty of multi-cuisine restaurants lined up in the main market. Besides traditional food in Andaman, travellers can also enjoy the fresh harvest of banana, mango, pineapple, and guava.

Climate of Andaman

The archipelago experiences two-season weather pattern: dry summers and wet winters. Summer temperatures in Andaman linger in mid-thirties and humidity in the day is high. The weather of Andaman between October and early May remains ideal for sightseeing, beach activities, and other excursions. The rainfall in Andaman starts early from May and usually lasts till September. The city of Port Blair witnesses a tropical monsoon climate throughout the year. Least rainfall is in the months of January, February, and March.

Vanigoli's 6 days trip to Andaman

All is good but when we asked to stop for about 10 minutes at museum on the way to airport we were denied saying that it's not part of itenary and it'll cost more even though we said we'll pay for tickets. I think little adjustments can be made like these for comfort of the travellers Neil island rock bridge beach

Jeet's 7 days trip to Andaman

We were welcomed at the airport and dropped at Hotel. The rooms in BayleafIn were very small but clean. Hardly space to walk after keeping the luggage.Food was good. At the evening we were kept stranded at Corbyn's cove and after repeated calls they send us a 4 seater car for 6 for pick up. No proper dissemination of information. Because of this we were late for the light show at cellular jail. Trip to havelock and niel was good but for elephanta Beach travel they provided a jetty without cover. It was difficult for us to sit with children and it was a very slow boat. While returning from Neil our tickets were scattered in cruise ,difficult to travel in such way. No swimming pool at neil island. Had to shift rooms as AC was not working..At portblair I was completely misguided as from 2PM to 4 PM we were kept at hotel due to non availability of vehichle. They didn't show the museum and market got closed while the cab reached. Not a perfect tour as expected. Water Sports at Elephanta beach, Radhanagar Beach and Neil Island tour.

Jits's 4 days trip to Andaman

It was really a great trip. Thanks to Holiday feet. It was a very well co-ordinated and no problem as such. Just one feedback I have whenever there is a payment issue between coordinators in different places, please do not ask us to leave the car or wait until the payment is done. They directly asked us to wait at the beach and saying your payment was not clear so we could not help you. Though the payment was done after few minutes but make sure it's already done or it will be done afterwards. Rest everything was great

Booked a trip for my parents through Andaman Great Holidays in May 2024. They offered a great itinerary with clean and beautiful hotels, good cabs and also complementary snorkeling on day 2. The staff was very cooperative and prompt. Thanks a lot Saksham, Naziya and Sourabh for putting together a great holiday experience! Would definitely recommend. :)
