Places to visit in Andaman

Andaman and Nicobar Islands rise out of the Bay of Bengal like a handful of pearls in the ocean. The remotest territory of India is poles apart from the mainland in every way. Travellers come here after a short flight or a long voyage from India’s east coast to enjoy the exotic vistas that mainland lacks.

Sightseeing in Andaman includes a visit to pristine beaches, far-flung islands, and lush interior forests. Let’s take a look at some of the best places to visit in Andaman. The city of Port Blair has a layered history and remains the most sought-after places to visit in Andaman. Trace Second World War and British Raj-era history at Cellular Jail National Memorial. The 1857 Freedom Fighters Memorial documents the unwavering courage of freedom fighters of the 1857’s Revolution. Take a guided tour of the Anthropological Museum to learn about the lives of the indigenous tribes and the Samudrika Naval Marine Museum in Port Blair allows a glimpse into the biodiversity of marine life.

It’s difficult to pick the best beach in Andaman as there are several contenders that take the cake. Just a short day’s trip on a boat takes travellers to some of the most unspoilt, glorious beaches in the world. Fishing at Wandoor Beach in the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park and sunbathing at Kalapathar Beach are popular things to do in Andaman. While North Bay Beach offers a unique experience of sea-walking, Radhanagar Beach at Havelock Island has a well-deserved reputation for being one of the most beautiful beaches in Asia.

Elephant safari to explore the surrounding forests near Mount Harriet is another popular activity to do on a sunny day. Ross Island and Jolly Buoy Island can be reached via jetty from Port Blair. Barren Island features the only volcano in India. Chidiya Tapu is a paradise for nature lovers and birdwatchers. Travellers on sightseeing tours admire the natural formation of Limestone Caves at Baratang Island and walk through tropical woods.

Home to the highest peak in Andaman, Diglipur lies north of Port Blair. It is famous for being the site of turtle nesting, ideal crocodile sanctuaries, and its cave network. Diglipur Church, Turtle Nesting Point, and Pathi Level Beach, Limestone Caves are also popular places to visit in Andaman for honeymoon. Howrah Bridge, Chatham Saw Mill, Phoenix Bay Jetty, Corbyn’s Cove, Sitapur Beach, and Jogger’s Park also rank among the top tourist places in Andaman.

Vanigoli's 6 days trip to Andaman

All is good but when we asked to stop for about 10 minutes at museum on the way to airport we were denied saying that it's not part of itenary and it'll cost more even though we said we'll pay for tickets. I think little adjustments can be made like these for comfort of the travellers Neil island rock bridge beach

Jeet's 7 days trip to Andaman

We were welcomed at the airport and dropped at Hotel. The rooms in BayleafIn were very small but clean. Hardly space to walk after keeping the luggage.Food was good. At the evening we were kept stranded at Corbyn's cove and after repeated calls they send us a 4 seater car for 6 for pick up. No proper dissemination of information. Because of this we were late for the light show at cellular jail. Trip to havelock and niel was good but for elephanta Beach travel they provided a jetty without cover. It was difficult for us to sit with children and it was a very slow boat. While returning from Neil our tickets were scattered in cruise ,difficult to travel in such way. No swimming pool at neil island. Had to shift rooms as AC was not working..At portblair I was completely misguided as from 2PM to 4 PM we were kept at hotel due to non availability of vehichle. They didn't show the museum and market got closed while the cab reached. Not a perfect tour as expected. Water Sports at Elephanta beach, Radhanagar Beach and Neil Island tour.

Jits's 4 days trip to Andaman

It was really a great trip. Thanks to Holiday feet. It was a very well co-ordinated and no problem as such. Just one feedback I have whenever there is a payment issue between coordinators in different places, please do not ask us to leave the car or wait until the payment is done. They directly asked us to wait at the beach and saying your payment was not clear so we could not help you. Though the payment was done after few minutes but make sure it's already done or it will be done afterwards. Rest everything was great
