Dudhsagar Waterfalls In Goa

Watch in awe the water cascading down

Dudhsagar Waterfalls, Goa

Nestled in the lush wilderness of the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary, Dudhsagar Waterfall spills down from the Western Ghats in South Goa.

With a height of about 310 meters and a width of 30m, this four-tiered cascade ranks among the tallest waterfalls in India. Meaning a ‘Sea of Milk’, Dudhsagar Waterfall in Goa upholds its apt name, especially during peak monsoon months.

Some Interesting Legends About Dudhsagar Waterfalls

Goans maintain a belief that there was a princess who used to come for a refreshing bath by the lakeside. She used to bathe in this lake every day with her maidens and one day while consuming milk from her golden jug, she was laughing and giggling. Upon hearing this, a prince who was passing nearby stopped to get a glimpse of the person who was laughing. Upon seeing this, the maidens poured the milk from the jug in front of the princess so as to make a curtain in front of her, thus preventing the prince from watching her. This curtain of milk is called Dudhsagar Falls.

Dudhsagar Falls Trek

Today – owing to its location in the scenic forest – Dudhsagar Waterfall trek is a popular day trial among trekkers and bird watchers alike. This natural spectacle, along with the state’s southeastern border, is more than just another tourist destination in Goa; it remains vital to the region's economy and ecology. Home to a diverse array of flora and fauna, the vicinity around Dudhsagar Waterfall famously shelters nearly 200 bird species including Indian Black Woodpecker, Paradise Fly Catcher, and the Malabar Pied Hornbill.

What Travelers Say About Our Goa Trips

Koushal's 3 days trip to Goa

Overall, the rooms and the resort were very good, and we also received upgrades to better rooms. Thanks to Jack and Prajakta for coordinating that. One area that could have been better managed was the gala night. The bar setup was not ideal, and the cocktails and mocktails that were part of the package were not served during the event. Better coordination on this front would have improved the overall experience.

Trival Triangle & Especially Bindas trips managed our trip so well and hassle-free that we enjoyed our holidays without any worry. The Cab was right on time waiting for us soon we arrived at the station. We booked Bay Boutique by SR Hotel Calangute. The hotel check-in was quick and easy. The hotel staff was very welcoming and corrdinated with us according to our needs - 24X7 available for any services. Our driver was well informed and friendly. Over-all our trip was smooth and happening- as expected from travel triangle. Highly recommend. This was my second group trip with Travel Triangle. I have been to Kashmir before with a huge family group and that was exceptionally well organised too!

Kashyap's 6 days trip to Goa

    1. Kindly exclude the Dinner at Cruise from the itineary. Food was worst and waste of money & energy. We could have enjoyed at Hotel itself. 2. Driver was good, but he took us to spice plantation as the food was free for him and we had to spent money for the worst food. In addition, there was no guide at the place who could have show the surrounding perfectly. Also, the driver knew that Dona Paula beach was 10 to 15 mins away from Miramar beach still he didn't took us at the time of South Goa day tour. Additionally, he took 2500 INR just to visit Dona Paula beach. In addition, I was surprised to know that he was a localite of Goa and he didn't knew the best Cashew shop. 3. On the day one we had requested the co-ordinator to move the Dudhsagar water fall after 2 days which he agreed at the initial stage. However, in the night when there was a miscommunication between the co-ordinator and driver, co-ordinator started asking me proof of agreement that when we had asked him to move the day of Dudhsagar visit. Kindly ask the co-ordinator to stick to the words as the guest has the rights to do the changes in the itneary. 4. At the time of check-in at Hotel we had to wait for another 30 mins due to mismatch in final amount of payment. Please make sure to communicate to the Hotel well in advance with the right amount to avoid inconvience to the guest.

Anup's 3 days trip to Goa

Pros: Good hotel Good cab service Supportive tour agent Hotel breakfast was awesome. Cons rather I call it suggestions: Please change cruise, the food taste was very average. The dolphin trip was included in both vehicles we travelled not sure why it is repeated, if we have known that we could have covered more places. Snow park is overrated. Try to book hotel rooms side by side so that family can stay together. Try avoiding taking traveller's to the beach at afternoon, rather evening works good. Dona Paula beach was good and food was also good. Calangute and baga beach and night market was nice.
