How to Reach Gangtok

Gangtok can be reached from nearest train station in New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal. The city is accessible through air also from most major cities of India. • By Air:  Bagdogra Airport (IXB) near Siliguri provides with various taxis or buses to reach the destination. It is directly connected to Delhi and Kolkata airport via nonstop flights. Pakyong Airport (PYG) is a newly opened airport located about 35 kilometres from Gangtok. It takes nearly 1.5 hours to reach Sikkim from Kolkata by a nonstop flight.
• By Road: After arriving at New Jalpaiguri Railway station, taxi and bus services are provided which is a four hour long journey. Dozens of vehicles travel to siliguri including luxury Innova or Sumos. Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Siliguri are connected to Gangtok via taxis directly. Buses take more time than taxis but are comparatively cheaper. The roads are well maintained with breathtaking views all around except in monsoon season when  landslide disrupts the communication system. Tourists can reach Gangtok in 1 hour from the nearest PYG Airport.
• By Rail: Located 120 kilometres away from the city, New Jalpaiguri is the main railway station serving Gangtok. A number of trains run between major cities and this station. Many cities are connected to this station including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Kochi. From here various cabs and buses are available to reach Gangtok.
