History

The today’s Corniche family beach was not always ready for one to enjoy. In the earlier days, there was no beach here. The present-day Corniche beach’s area was the docking area for ships carrying cargo and for dhows. During those times the Mina Zayed area had not been constructed. Although the beach is now marked with brilliant modern-day accommodations, the earlier version of the Corniche beach included a Volcano Fountain and lots of parking space. Furthermore, apart from offering docking space for ships to anchor, this place was a common fishing ground for locals.
