About Srirangapatna in Mysore

Once under the rule of Tipu Sultan, the town of Srirangapatna, remains to be one of the most politically and historically significant heritage of South India. Serving as an urban and pilgrimage center from centuries, the town of Srirangapatna has also been the capital of various empires and dynasties of South India including the great Vijaynagar Empire.

While an acknowledgement of its application to Unesco regarding the declaration of heritage sites in the island town remains to be pending, however, its importance as a religious, historical and cultural site is an undeniable fact.

The town of Srirangapatna is considered to be one of the most important Vaishnavite pilgrimage centres in South India. Surrounded by river Kaveri, the town of Srirangapatna is home to various temples built in Hoysala and Vijayanagar temple architecture styles. Besides temples and religious places, Srirangapatna is home to various historical and cultural edifices. When visiting the town, a visit to places like Tipu Sultan Gumbaz, Daria Daulat Bagh, Wellesley Bridge, Srirangapatna Fort, Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary and several more, is a must. Experience a total time travel while visiting the historical reminiscence of the great South Indian emperors. The beautifully constructed and carved temples display the traditional skills of masonry and sculptors. Initially, our driver was quite rude, but after we filed a complaint, his behavior improved signific

antly, making the rest of our journey much smoother. Regarding our accommodations, the stays in Coorg and Mysore were absolutely awesome. The hospitality, comfort, and ambiance in these locations were top-notch. However, our experience at Kerala Porch.inn was less than satisfactory. The manager was very rude and uncooperative. There was no lift available, and our request for hot water was outrightly rejected. Additionally, the room locker keys were not functioning properly. We were locked out of our room for 30 minutes with our family, only to be informed later that we needed to update our locker key—something that was not communicated to us earlier. Despite these challenges, we made the best of our trip and created many wonderful memories. With a few improvements, this trip could have been perfect.
