Dandeli is the second largest wildlife sanctuary in Karnataka. It was designated a tiger reserve in 2007. The city is the natural habitat of over 270 species of birds, making it a haven for birdwatchers. Get your binoculars, and don’t miss seeing the Great Indian Hornbill. Even the rare and reclusive black panther is often seen around in Dandeli. Diverse forms of trees, shrubs, creepers, and wildflowers like Rosewood, Red Cedar, Indian Mahogany, Bishop wood, Freshwater mangrove, and more infuse a rich green fragrance in the air. Moreover, Dandeli is also the gateway to Anshi National Park or the Kali Tiger Reserve.
