Thekkady, a small district in Kerala is frequently visited by tourists from all over India as well as by those not belonging to India. It is a beautiful place and reaching there is not a hassle at all. It is extremely well connected. It is most famously known for the Periyar National Park where tourists love to go for the Periyar Tiger Trail, which is a thrilling experience. So here are a few ways in which you can reach Thekkady from Trivandrum:

 

Thekkady From Trivandrum By air: There are currently no flights which will take you from Trivandrum to Thekkady.

 

Thekkady From Trivandrum By train: Trains are the most economical and affordable. Train journeys are super fun when travelling in a large group. The whole journey passes by very easily. The train duration to reach Thekkady from Trivandrum is about 2 hours. However, the nearest station where you will have to deboard is not very close to the city centre. From the Kottayam Railway Station, a cab ride of approximately 2 hours will take you to Thekkady. It is not inconvenient, just a little longer than you may expect.

 

Thekkady From Trivandrum By road: Individual travellers could swear by bus travel. The bus directly travels from Trivandrum to Thekkady. It takes just 5 hours to reach Thekkady from Trivandrum. It is cheap, affordable and reasonably comfortable. If you are lucky, you may even find a companion on during the bus journey. If buses do not suit you, there is  always the option of a hiring a cab. The cab will take you to Thekkady from Madurai in just 4 hours. It will not feel like a long journey if you have a book to read or a fellow traveller with you, or better yet, some great music.
