About Narayani Mata Mandir In Alwar

Narayani Mata Mandir is located in the Alwar district of Rajasthan.

The temple belongs to Sain Samaj and is the only one in India of its kind. The area around the temple is semi-arid and the only source of water to the mandir is a small spring inside the temple. Narayani Mata Mandir is nestled next to Sariska National Park and draws a large number of devotees and tourists from all over the country. One can see caste principles being followed in Narayani Mata Mandir as the priest of the mandir belongs to Meena caste and people belonging to Baniya caste are not allowed inside the temple. Also, the temple is devoted and dedicated to Sain caste.

History of Narayani Mata Mandir

As per the historical records the first sati in India took place in Narayani Mata Mandir Alwar even before Rani Sati. It is believed that Narayani after marriage was going to her in-law's place and on the way, her husband was bitten by a snake and died then and there. Narayani was in deep sorrow and prayed to Lord Shiva either to give back life to her husband or let her commit sati with her dead husband. Lord Shiva answered her prayers and the holy fire was sent to them to consume both Narayani and her husband.

The path to the temple also is full of scenic beauty, you will cross Tehla Lake on the way, on the entry of the temple find a fort-like gate. There used to be a big fair in Narayani Mata Mandir in the early ’90s but was banned by Late Mr. Rajeev Gandhi, Prime Minister of India while he was in the office. Since then many efforts have been made by the local authorities to start the fair again but so far the permission has not been granted.

Significance of Narayani Mata Temple

Narayani Mata Temple in Alwar is famous as the first sati site in India. It was here only when the first sati ritual was performed by Narayani upon the death of her husband. There is also a spring here whose water is considered to be holy.

Inside Narayani Mata Temple

There is a fort-like massive gate once the Tehla Lake is crossed and to the right of the gate is located Narayani Mata Mandir. There is also a spring, the water of which is considered to be holy. Monkeys can be seen inside the temple as tourists and local people feed them.

Highlights of Narayani Mata Temple

There are 2 Narayani Mata Temples in India, one is in Alwar, Rajasthan and another is in Lonavala, Maharashtra.

The priest of the temple is from Meena caste and the temple belongs to the sain caste, therefore, baniya caste people are not allowed to enter the temple.

Narayani Mata Temple in Alwar is the temple in India where sati was performed for the first time.

There is a natural spring coming in this temple in semi-amid area and the water of the spring is considered to be holy.

A big fair was conducted at this temple before 1993 which was later banned by Rajeev Gandhi.

My entire trip to Rajasthan was excellent. The driver provided by the travel agent was very courteous and skilled. Special thanks to Preeti from Back to Holiday for her constant support and helpful coordination throughout the journey. Visiting Udaipur and Jaipur Fort, exploring Bikaner Fort, and enjoying the sand dunes of Jaisalmer with thrilling bike rides and camel rides.

Hemant's 4 days trip to Alwar

We had a wonderful experience booking our *Udaipur–Chittorgarh–Pushkar–Jaipur (Rajasthan Mewar)* trip through Aapka TripWala via Travel Triangle. Chirag from the tour company was extremely helpful from the very beginning. He carefully understood our requirements, as we were travelling with our 3-year-old, and tailored the itinerary perfectly for us. He also arranged our flight tickets and hotel bookings with ease. The hotels chosen for us were exceptional in comfort, location, and service, making our stay truly memorable. Our driver, *Mr. Nandu Singh*, made the journey stress-free and pleasant from the moment he picked us up at the airport until the final drop-off. He kept us informed about possible scams at tourist spots, was always patient and courteous (even when delays happened because of our little one), and greeted us each day with a warm smile. We really appreciated that he never pushed us toward any particular shop or market. Travelling with him was an absolute delight, and his professionalism enhanced our overall trip experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a well-organized, trustworthy, and family-friendly travel experiene.

Binoy's 4 days trip to Alwar

We are really grateful to Preeti Sharma from Back 2 Holidays for planning such a wonderful trip of Udaipur and Mount Abu. Initially we were sceptical about all the commitments given by Preeti, but to our complete surprise, everything what she has promised was honoured. Right from the hotel room, view, the cab, the tour plan was as committed. We are super delighted as it was my bday tour and wanted this to be special and would like to thank Preeti Sharma , the cab driver Kamlesh , who ensure we had the best experience of the lake city and Mt. Abu. Breathing Taking Hotel View, Dinner at Kamma Ghani , City palace and Mt. Abu Morning.

Devyani's 7 days trip to Alwar

We had a memorable trip to Rajasthan booked through Travel Triangle, though our experience was somewhat mixed. The cab driver assigned to us was truly dedicated and went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Every restaurant he recommended was excellent, and the sightseeing throughout the journey was absolutely fabulous. That said, I would advise exercising caution when booking 4-star accommodations through the agent. It's important to clarify that we were referring to official hotel ratings, not guest reviews. Unfortunately, the agent’s interpretation did not match ours. Three out of the five hotels had ongoing renovation work, which significantly affected our comfort. Although the agent did try to make changes to minimize the inconvenience, the replacement hotels were not of genuine 4-star quality either. The most disappointing experience was the camping stay at Juma Resort in Jaisalmer. The property was infested with crickets, making it uninhabitable. Four families, including ours, ended up leaving the resort and paying out of pocket for alternative accommodation. Unfortunately, this was not even communicated to the travel agent at the time. On a positive note, our request for a rollaway bed for our daughter was fulfilled as expected, which we appreciated. In summary, while the itinerary and driver exceeded our expectations, the hotel arrangements — particularly the Jaisalmer experience — left considerable room for improvement.
