Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur (Rajasthan)

Delve into the enchanting past of the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, the Sun City of Rajasthan. A part of this palace is a hotel owned by the Taj group and the other part is a museum that depicts the history and culture of Rajasthan.

Umaid Bhawan Palace History

After the reign of Pratap Singh, Jodhpur went through a drought in the 1920s. To provide some sort of employment to the locals (mostly farmers), the palace was built by Maharaja Umaid Singh of the Rathore Dynasty in 1943. Explore this Rajasthani palace and its architectural splendor and enjoy a truly royal experience.

Today, the lavish palace is also renowned as a popular spot for royal and private wedding ceremonies and receptions. Along with the Jag Mandir in Udaipur, Umaid Bhawan Palace wedding events are fancied by people all over India.

Umaid Bhawan Palace Attractions:

Umaid Bhawan Palace is one of the most beautiful palaces in the state of Rajasthan. The whole palace is an attraction in itself, however, there are several major attractions inside the palace which shouldn’t be missed out on your next trip to Jodhpur.

Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum

The museum tells about the royalty of the Indian Kings and Maharajas. The museum exhibits the royal and vintage collection of clocks, intricate furniture, arms and weapons, and Chinese vases.

Umaid Bhawan Palace Hotel

Another striking feature of the Umaid Bhawan Palace is its hotel and its services. One can relish the scrumptious cuisines in the most royal form ever and with royal hospitality. However, dining here is a costly affair.

The Trophy Bar

The Trophy Bar in Umaid Bhawan Palace showcases the rich collection of wildlife trophies that were collected back by the kings. One can sip a glass of cocktail or smoke cigar here.

At the Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum, visitors will get to view some marvelous specimens like porcelain wares, memorabilia, glass, stuffed leopards, a flag gifted to Maharaja Jaswant Singh by Queen Victoria, clocks in an interesting windmill and lighthouse shapes and classic cars. Come pay a visit to this grand palace to enjoy a royal retreat!

You can also stroll around the sprawling 26 acres of this royal residence that is just about 5 kilometers from the Jodhpur Railway Station and about 4 kilometers from the Jodhpur Airport. There are no particular Umaid Bhawan Palace timings for visitation.

Onkar's 7 days trip to Jodhpur

I am so glad to inform you that we had a wonderful family time in Rajasthan. A very special thanks to Preeti Sharma ji for arranging everything immaculately. This was our first trip after 3 years so we all were extremely excited. Our trip itinerary was Jaipur - Jodhpur - Jaisalmer - Udaipur. Almost all the hotel accommodations and the travel arrangements were extremely precise and apt, adhering to all our requirements. Preeti ji is especially exceptional as she knows what she is doing and is an expert in it. She gave some valuable suggestions and tips too for our trip. We would love to book another trip through back to holidays soon. Please keep up the good work you are doing. A heartfelt thank you once again for the lovely time we were able to spend because of you. Richa Deshpande. .

Jknairkerla's 5 days trip to Jodhpur

It was a wonderful trip and excellent support from Mr Chanchal Hadda. Swaroop Vilas Hotel in Udaipur was good. But not really Lakefacing. It overlooks tha connecting portion between Pichola lake and one more lake. This portion is narrow and dirty, Lakefacing is not worth it. Chacha Inn was again a wonderful stay with excellent service and ambience. Thanks

The stay the Jaisalmer desert was very bad. The agent hadn’t made the payment at Jaipur and we had to wait for 1 hour during the checkout. Other than that the other stays were good and had good time with family.
